Precise measurement is indispensable in daily craftsmanship and requires tools that are both quickly accessible and easy to read accurately. In professional van racking, the organization and access to measuring instruments play a central role in work efficiency. The Sortimo grid meter rule was specifically developed for use in mobile working environments to provide craftsmen and service technicians with a reliable measuring device. This tool combines the functionality of a classic tape measure with the systematic approach of Sortimo solutions. It serves not only for pure measuring tasks but also as an integrated element of load securing and tool storage. By placing it strategically in the vehicle, the measuring instrument is always within reach without getting in the way or getting lost in everyday work. It is particularly advantageous for fleet vehicles and service vehicles if all employees have access to a standardized, high-quality measuring device that can withstand the high demands of daily professional life.
The construction of the grid meter rule is characterized by a thoughtful surface that combines different measurement systems. The front of the device is printed in millimeters, allowing direct reading of lengths and widths in the metric system. This standardization is the norm in most European craft businesses and allows for immediate use without conversion. On the reverse side, however, there is a label in the Sortimo grid unit of 17 mm. This special unit is characteristic of the Sortimo system and facilitates measuring gaps, aligning shelves, or planning installations inside the vehicle. The double labeling makes the tool a multifunctional helper that can be used for both classic measuring tasks and internal system planning. The choice of material and processing ensure that the labeling remains legible even under harsh conditions on construction sites or in outdoor use.
The technical specifications of the product are designed for practicality and lightness. The tape measure has external dimensions of 239 x 240 x 170 mm, corresponding to a compact form that integrates well into existing structures. With a weight of only 0.20 kg, it is a very light tape measure for van racking that hardly affects the vehicle's load. Despite the low weight, the device offers stable handling. The dimensions of 239x240x170 mm are chosen so that the tool fits into the block assembly and can be securely fixed there. These dimensions are crucial for planning the installations, as they determine how much space in the shelf system or wall cladding needs to be kept free for the measuring device. Precise adherence to these dimensions ensures a clean fit within the Sortimo system.
In terms of application, the grid meter rule covers various scenarios typical for craftsmen. Whether during the installation of fittings, checking pipe lengths, or roughly estimating components – the tool is always ready for use. It is particularly valuable in situations where electronic measuring devices are not available or cannot be used due to interference fields. The grid meter rule is a mechanical aid that does not require batteries and is therefore always functional. For service technicians who maintain van racking, it is an indispensable aid when checking installation dimensions. It also finds its place in tool storage with an integrated tape measure, as it is often needed together with other measuring and cutting tools. The fact that it is suitable for block assembly allows for a surface arrangement in the vehicle, which does not hinder access to other tools.
Integration into the workflow is evident through the system-compliant design. A tape measure for service technicians van racking helps to shorten routes in the vehicle. Instead of searching for the measuring device in a bag or burying it in an unorganized toolbox, it is located at a defined place. This saves valuable time, which is often short in daily professional life. The recommendation to provide such a device per employee underscores the importance of individual equipment. Every craftsman is entitled to their own, clean, and clearly visible measuring tool that does not collide with or get dirty from other devices. This promotes hygiene and accuracy, as each device can be regularly cleaned and maintained. The investment in such specialized aids pays off through higher work quality and less frustration when searching for materials.
